The Lighthouse ArtCenter in Tequesta is seeking to add a second floor to its building on Tequesta Drive but it is pursuing a backup plan to build at the Jupiter Lighthouse.
What’s clear to leaders at the Lighthouse ArtCenter is that the north county art destination needs to expand and update its existing home.
Not so clear, at least for the moment: How that expansion will look — and where it will be. Right now, the popular gallery and art center has two notable options.
Lighthouse ArtCenter leaders have submitted plans with the village to dramatically renovate and add a second floor to its existing space at 373 Tequesta Drive. At the same time, in what Executive Director Nancy Politsch describes as a backup plan, it has pitched the U.S. Bureau of Land Management with a proposal to build a complex at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse’s Outstanding Natural Area.
